Midnight Snack smoothie

Its 22h45 and you’re going to be burning the midnight oil this evening. You’re on a roll until your body reminds you about a stark reality…you are hungry again. In keeping with the dinner before 18h00 rule you had dinner at 17h30 an now realise you are ready for a snack but what? It’s too late for a full meal but hunger pangs won’t allow you to flourish on a light snack. So how do you balance your healthy eating journey with your ever increasing desire to snack?

Your body is speaking to you and it’s important to listen. While you may think you’re hungry because of the time between meals it is important to note that it may be as a result of increased stress, hormonal imbalances and perhaps your lack of sleep. So to avoid falling off the wagon, here’s a smoothie you can whip up in 5 min or less which will leave you satisfied and still on track to reaching your goals.

  • 2-4 leaves of any spinach variant (kale, chard work best)
  • 1 banana (Peeled, cut and frozen)
  • 1 medium apple (Cored and diced)
  • ½ – ¾ cups coconut milk
  • 1 tsp. moringa leaf powder
  • ½ tsp. grated ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. almond butter

1. Place all smoothie ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth.
2. Pour into a large cup, and enjoy!

Healthy eating should be convenient as well so why not make the smoothie at night and leave it in
the fridge for the next morning. Perhaps even prep for the entire week. Smoothies should keep for
5- 7 days in the fridge.

Happy smoothie making 🙂
